On November 21, 2024, the "Green Small Hydropower Supports Rural Revitalization in the Western Region Symposium" organized by the International Small Hydropower Center was successfully held in Chongqing. Attendees included Deputy Director Xing Yuanyue (at the director level) of the Agricultural Water and Hydropower Department of the Ministry of Water Resources, Director Xu Jincai and Deputy Director Yue Menghua of the International Small Hydropower Center, Deputy Director Wang Debing of the Chongqing Water Resources Bureau, representatives from the water resources departments (bureaus) of provinces and autonomous regions such as Chongqing, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, Tibet, Zhejiang, Hunan, Gansu, and Shaanxi, leaders from various enterprises including New Century and New Shijie, and financial institutions such as Guoyin Jinzu and Zhejiang Commercial Bank. Everyone gathered to exchange ideas on topics such as the green transformation and modernization of small hydropower in the western region and how green small hydropower can support rural revitalization. Jiang Jie, President of New Century Electric, and Sun Xiaojing, General Manager of New Shijie Electric, were invited to participate in the symposium.

The meeting was hosted by Director Xu Jincai of the International Small Hydropower Center, with Deputy Director Wang Debing of the Chongqing Water Resources Bureau delivering the opening speech. Deputy Director Xing Yuanyue awarded the plaque for the "Green Small Hydropower Supports Rural Revitalization Work Committee Joint Office (Chongqing)" to the Chongqing Water Resources Bureau, marking that the development of green small hydropower in the western region will play a more important role in rural revitalization. During the symposium, representatives from various provinces and regions introduced the status of their respective projects for the green transformation and modernization of small hydropower, and engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on the opportunities, challenges, and countermeasures for the development of green small hydropower. Deputy Director Xing Yuanyue delivered an important speech at the symposium, emphasizing that green small hydropower is an important force for rural revitalization, and that continuous promotion of reform, innovation, green development, and modernization is necessary, along with strengthening market operations and inter-departmental coordination to jointly promote green hydropower in support of rural revitalization.
